Frequently Asked Questions
What is functional nutrition?
Functional medicine is a patient-centered model of care that prioritizes treating the underlying cause of disease to promote optimal wellness. Rather than just labeling diagnoses and using pharmaceuticals to treat symptoms, functional practitioners seek to find the root cause of your health problems.
Functional nutrition (FN) is the foundation of functional medicine. FN lives by the phrase “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food”. By optimizing diet and nutrition, balance can often be restored to the body and disrupted biochemical processes can be repaired. Functional nutrition recognizes that each person is unique and responds differently to interventions, requiring a personalized treatment plan. Lastly, FN utilizes a holistic approach that addresses not only diet, but sleep, stress, lifestyle, and environmental factors as well.

How do I know if the program is right for me?
Unlike many online programs today that rely on pre-recorded videos and handouts, we provide live, one on one counseling to all our clients. If you are seeking personalized nutrition therapy from a licensed nutritionist dietitian, we are confident we can meet your needs. However, this program isn’t for everyone. We offer complimentary 15-minute consultations to discuss your health concerns and goals and explain what we do to see if its a good fit for you.
What functional testing do you offer?
We offer many functional tests including comprehensive stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, SIBO testing, and more. These tests are not included in our fees and are paid directly to the test provider and shipped to your home. Not every case requires functional testing, however. Significant gains can be made from our program even if you opt out of further testing.
